By now you have probably heard of the Crow River Food Coop or Rockford grocery store, well, it’s true there is a store being worked on. The community of Rockford could really use a grocery store and based on public opinion and actual surveys it appears it could easily support one. Unfortunately, the big box stores don’t feel were big enough for them to put down roots so we drive miles and miles to other cities, support their economic growth and tax dollars. Not because we want to but because we don’t really have a choice, or do we?
The community has banned together and in no time already has 100+ people who have said “yes, let’s open a grocery store in Rockford”! These 100+ people have already joined, paid a membership and may have also donated all sorts of time helping get the word out and organizing events to raise money and awareness, we thank you.
Once upon a time Rockford supported two grocery stores with even less people we have now, the need is here, the business is here and hopefully the drive is here from local residents to make a grocery store in Rockford MN a reality.
On April 6th 2013 The Crow River Food Coop is holding a free breakfast at 9am at the high school commons area and you’re invited. Stop by, grab some food and learn more about how the Rockford co-op would work and how we can bring a Rockford grocery store back once again.
