It wasn’t to many years ago that the words “short sale” were not a household term, well times sure have changed. The short sale process has become popular all over the country, here in the Minneapolis Real Estate market where I work we had 802 lender owned (bank owned) pending sales in January 2011 and 358 short sales went pending same month which is up 11.9% from the same month last year.
When I first started doing short sales in 2007 I had never even heard of them now I have other Realtors referring their short sale leads to me because they find them to time consuming and difficult. I actually enjoy doing short sales as they help our clients out of a situation they often feel helpless in and we can really make a difference in their lives.
The key to closing a short sale successfully is follow up, details and above all else persistence to the “right people”. I could go on as I am sure many of you could with horror short sale stories, we all have them but at the end of the day the banks can work through these and there are great negotiators out there. That being said here are some of the contacts I have gathered over the last few years that have served me well. If you have others please feel free to share them here by posting.

Here are some other tips you may want to keep in mind when doing your next short sale:
“Most” all major bank have a direct e-mail to the big dogs office – just use executive.office@ “fill in bank name here” .com – this typically gets you right to the powers that be
Always be polite when asking for help at the bank – honey really does get you further with these guys – kiss some you know what if you have to for your client and I have found the bank really responds well and helps out
DO NOT USE THESE CONTACTS UNTIL YOU HAVE ALREADY RAN THE COURSE AND TIMELINE OF THE TYPICAL SHORT SALE – this list is made up of only managers, presidents and so on, all people who can help you and will but not if you’re calling 3 weeks after you submitted your offer. These are people you want to contact when the system truly isn’t working and they will help you. Ive used many of them on more than one occasion and closed the properties but you must ask nicely and run the regular course first.
If you or anyone you know needs help with a short sale in the Minneapolis area let me know here or call 612-282-7653 I would be happy to help. Share your contact’s below so others can gain from them – have a great day and thanks for reading our blog post on bank short sale contacts.
