Plymouth is the 7th largest city in Minnesota and the 3rd largest suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Once named for Medicine Lake, the city's name was chosen by Hennepin County Commissioners during the county's inception. Plymouth MN covers a land area of 35.3 square miles 2.4 miles of which is water. One of the great features Plymouth has is its love for the outdoors. Located along the north shore of Medicine Lake, the park offers amenities such as a swimming beach, fishing pier, lighted trails, and a family-friendly play area. Music lovers can enjoy numerous summer concerts (including a symphony production) at the Hilde Performance Center. Five school districts serve Plymouth MN, school district's 284, 281, 279, 6069 and 270.
