The lake has a maximum depth of 60 feet, average depth of 18.2 feet, and is used primarily for boating, fishing and aesthetic viewing. Much of the lake is within Lake Sarah Regional Park, operated by The Three Rivers Park District. The long layout of the lake makes it perfect for water skiing and tubing without the need for constant turning.

As I slowly wake up to the natural alarm clock of my cotton trees softly rustling through my open bedroom window and the waves urging me to come down to the dock for my morning coffee, I realize life can’t get much better than this. The smoky smell of fresh cut oak still lingering on my clothes reminds me of last night’s lakeside bon-fire with family and friends. It’s Saturday morning and I can’t decide if I should make breakfast or head out on the lake for a refreshing boat ride. As I step outside on the deck, my eyes have to adjust to the sparkling gleam of the water.  It looks like its going to be another great day.

I grew up on Lake Sarah and moved away for college some years ago but always knew I would return.  In 2005, I did just that! I bought my own home just up the road from the house of my childhood. Ever since I can remember, I have been drawn to the water and the beauty of Minnesota. I have visited other lakes in the past but none have been quite like Lake Sarah. None have offered such generosity and familiarity as Lake Sarah. The sense of community, enjoyment of Rebecca Park and Lake Sarah Regional Park make you realize how fantastic it is to live here.

As the day transitions to night, I am taken aback by the colors of the sky. I have taken countless pictures trying to capture the sunsets over Lake Sarah but none have ever done it justice as seeing it in person. It’s nightfall now and the water is smooth as glass and makes almost no sound. The gentle breeze sweeps calmly through my yard and the world seems at peace.  The weather report for tomorrow is good. I know I will awake to another great day on the lake where a flock of Geese will make their way to catch some food, and ducks will quack while floating past my dock wondering what time I will be out with our traditional Sunday morning bread crumbs. Living on Lake Sarah is perfect for me!
