It wasn't to many years ago that the words "short sale" were not a household term, well times sure have changed. The short sale process has become popular all over the country, here in the Minneapolis Real Estate market where I work we had 802 lender owned (bank owned) pending sales in January 2011 and 358 short sales went pending same month which is up 11.9% from the same month last year.
When I first started doing short sales in 2007 I had never even heard of them now I have other Realtors referring their short sale leads to me because they find them to time consuming and difficult. I actually enjoy doing short sales as they help our clients out of a situation they often feel helpless in and we can really make a difference in their lives.
The key to closing a short sale successfully is follow up, details and above all else persistence to the "right people". I could go on as I am sure many of you could with horror short sale stories, we all have them but at the end of the day the banks can work through these and there are great negotiators out there. That being said here are some of the contacts I have gathered over the last few years that have served me well. If you have others please feel free to share them here by posting.
BOA Short Sale Contact (Bank Of America)
PNC Mortgage
Chase Bank
Wells Fargo
TCF Bank
Klein Bank
Thats just some of the best ones I have - yes there are a ton of contacts a person can toss out there for short sales but I only concentrate on using the best ones so the list is shorter.
Here are some other tips you may want to keep in mind when doing your next short sale:
