Definition Of MLS
In the world of real estate MLS is short for Multiple Listing Service©. The definition of MLS is a database which
allows REALTORS® and agents representing sellers under a listing contract to share information about properties for sale with other REALTOR'S® or agents that may represent buyers and wish to cooperate with a seller's broker in bringing a buyer and purchase agreement to a property.
The MLS or Multiple Listing Service© combines properties that are listed by brokers who are members of that MLS system and of such an association as NAR National Association of REALTORS® or similar structure.
Before the age of the high speed internet and the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) access available now REALTORS®, Brokers and real estate agents alike used big books showing all the properties for sale and available, can you imagine that? Hundred's of homes for sale and looking through a book of pictures one by one rather than the "click, click, click" we have now with virtual tours, multiple home photographs, talking web sites and aerial mapping.
While you can search the majority of MLS listed properties on our web site here at Derrick-Monroe.com there are some properties that never hit the MLS or some that do but sell before they get uploaded to all the co-op sites out there. The term "MLS" itself is widely used in many real estate web sites domain names but there are some areas and REALTOR® boards that have some limits on the use in the actual domain name of a web site.
Any and all pages or links on our site that reference the MLS or Multiple Listing Service is as stated above, a co-op service provided by all participating brokers, not all homes will be homes listed through the MLS for our own company, although we can show you any home or property you see listed on this site or others.
